Fresno State’s Bego Faz Davalos named conference player of week
Fresno State center Bego Faz Davalos was named the Mountain West women’s basketball player of the week Monday.
The 6-foot-3 sophomore has been instrumental in Fresno State’s 4-0 start in conference play, and averaged 13.5 points, 11 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2.5 steals last week in wins against Nevada and Boise State.
In addition, Faz Davalos provided a key block that resulted in a go-ahead three-pointer by the Bulldogs with 1:28 left in the win against Boise State.
Faz Davalos, a native of of Monterrey, Mexico, posted back-to-back double doubles to push her conference lead to seven, which ranks 27th in the nation.
Fresno State (8-7, 4-0) next will play at 2 p.m. Saturday at San Jose State.
