Fresno State women’s basketball player Bego Faz Davalos shines with Mexico
Fresno State women’s basketball player Bego Faz Davalos completed her competition with Mexico at the World University Games as one of only three players to average double figures in two categories.
Davalos averaged 10.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game and posted a double-double in three of her final four games. The 6-foot-3 center also averaged 2.2 blocks and her 13 total blocks tied with teammate Laura Nunez for the most by an individual at the Games.
Davalos, who was one of 12 players to compete for Mexico at the Games and the only who competes in college in the United States, led her team in points (65), total rebounds (62), offensive rebounds (26), defensive rebounds (36), blocks (13), assists (12) and fouls drawn (24) through six games.
In her fourth game, Faz Davalos recorded tournament-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds against Brazil.
Mexico finished 1-5 at the Games, which concluded this past weekend in Gwangju, South Korea.
