Women’s basketball home opener starts busy week at Fresno State

Summer tour a key piece for Bulldogs women heading into season

The Fresno State women’s basketball team plays its home opener Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center against Cal Poly, the start of a busy week for athletics on campus.

The Bulldogs haven’t played since starting the season with an 86-73 loss at Northern Arizona on Nov. 6. Cal Poly is 1-2 with losses to No. 8 Oregon State and Sacramento State.

Game time is 7 p.m.

The Fresno State volleyball team finishes the regular season with three straight matches at the Save Mart Center: 7 p.m. Thursday vs. San Jose State, 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Nevada and 6 p.m. Monday vs. Air Force. The Bulldogs (20-8, 12-3 Mountain West) are locked into no worse than second place in the MW; they had finished no better than fourth since joining in 2012.

The Fresno State wrestling team is in Save Mart Center on Friday at 7 p.m. for their home opener, a dual against North Dakota State. The Bulldogs are 3-2 after trips to New Jersey and Colorado. Tuesday, they face Stanford in the Battle on the Midway in San Diego.

The Fresno State men’s basketball team next plays Thursday at No. 21 TCU, then spends Thanksgiving weekend at the Wooden Legacy in Fullerton.
