Fresno State drops fourth straight baseball game
Pacific, down 3-0 after one inning, received a two-run homer from Gio Brusa in a three-run fourth and remained in command to win 7-3 over Fresno State Tuesday night in a nonconference game at Beiden Field.
The Bulldogs, who have lost four straight after having won 9 of 10, will remain home to play Nevada in a three-game Mountain West series beginning at 6:05 p.m. Friday.
Fresno State (21-13) jumped out front in the first, getting a run-scoring single from Brody Russell, a steal of home by Russell and an RBI single by Jake Stone.
But it was all Pacific (12-18) from there. The Tigers cut into the Bulldogs’ lead with J.J. Wagner’s solo homer in the second, and took the lead for good on Joey Mejia’s RBI double that followed Brusa’s homer in the fourth.
Pacific added to its lead with Lucas Halstead’s solo homer in the seventh, and Blake Barry’s run-scoring single in the ninth later followed by a passed ball that allowed Barry to score the game’s final run.
The Bulldogs also lost to Pacific 15-6 on April 5 in Stockton.
Austin Guibor and Scott Silva each had two hits for Fresno State.
