Fresno State softball: Bulldogs host San Diego State for three

Fresno State is hot off road series sweep of Boise State, outscoring Broncos 49-12. Lindsey Willmon and Alyssa Villalpando each hit grand slams and have 27 RBIs apiece to tie for third-most in the Mountain West. Willmon’s eight homers are tied with Nevada’s Megan Sweet (Frontier/Hanford West highs) for tops in the league. Bulldogs have drawn conference-leading 108 walks, 21 by junior outfielder Kierra Willis. Senior ace Jill Compton (11-4) is coming off back-to-back wins at Boise State. Freshman Kamalani Dung (4-0) remains unbeaten through five starts and nine appearances overall. … San Diego State has won 8 of 11, including two in a row to clinch home series against Nevada. Aztecs are led by sophomore Alex Formsby (9-5), who fanned career-high eight in 1-0 game win over the Wolf Pack.
