Cal Poly scored three goals in the first seven minutes and went on to beat Fresno State 4-0 Sunday night in a nonconference women’s soccer game.

Caitlyn Kreutz, a freshman out of Buchanan High, scored two goals including the first just two minutes into the game. It was her second two-goal game for the Mustangs (2-2-2).

But another Buchanan product, senior Elise Krieghoff, did not play. Krieghoff, one of 30 candidates nationally for the Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer, also missed Cal Poly’s Friday loss at Stanford.

It was the second of the Bulldogs’ first two games at the new Soccer and Lacrosse Field just east of Bulldog Stadium. The first games drew an announced total crowd of over 2,000, including the Fresno Fuego’s Fire Squad fan club that kept the chants going through the finish Sunday night.

Fresno State (0-6) next plays Friday, Sept. 11 at home against Pacific.
