Pac-12: How Fresno State’s soon-to-be conference foes outspend on sports programs
In joining the Pac-12 Conference, Fresno State and four other Mountain West schools, plus Texas State, agreed to maintain compliant programs in football, basketball, women’s basketball and women’s volleyball and also compete in the sports sponsored by the conference where they field a varsity program.
For the Bulldogs, that includes baseball and softball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s cross-country and track, women’s soccer, women’s swimming and women’s tennis.
Here’s a look at what Fresno State’s fellow Pac-12 schools invest in sports programs, including coaching and staff salaries, recruiting, team travel, game guarantees and nutrition programs, according to 2025 financial reports filed with the NCAA.
To be sure, investment does not guarantee championships — there is evidence of that in every conference and in every sport across the nation. But for football, the Bulldogs are last in spending and in the middle or near the bottom in every sport, except women’s volleyball and women’s swimming and diving. See the rankings below.
