Fresno State women’s basketball: Point guard Tory Jacobs transfers in from Minnesota

The Fresno State women’s basketball team has signed point guard Tory Jacobs, a freshman transfer from the University of Minnesota, the school announced Tuesday.

The 5-foot-10 Jacobs played an average of nearly seven minutes in 29 games last season with the Golden Gophers. She won’t be eligible for the Bulldogs until the 2016-17 season per NCAA transfer rules.

Before her year in the Twin Cities, Jacobs was a four-year varsity player for MacArthur High in Irving, Texas, helping her team to a state title her freshman year.

She also earned all-district honors all four years. and was named all-state team after her senior season when she led the Dallas-Fort Worth area in overall scoring with a total of 691 points in 33 games (20.9 ppg).

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Tory to the Bulldogs family,” coach Jaime White said. “With length and versatility, Tory will be an immediate impact at the point guard spot when she becomes eligible.”

It is the second offseason signing for Fresno State. Earlier this month, White inked forward 5-11 Kendra Martin, a national junior college champion from Chipola College.
