Giants’ post All-Star break skid contrasts sharply to last year
The Giants have reinvented the June swoon, waiting until well into July to enter into their worst tailspin of the season.
Since the All-Star break, the Giants have struggled. An eight-game trip through San Diego, Boston and New York produced just one win, a 12-inning victory over the Yankees. A return home produced a loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Monday in the opener of a three-game series at AT&T Park.
The slump is in contrast to how the Giants began their post All-Star break a year ago, when they won eight of nine.
What’s working in the Giants’ favor this season is they brought a 58-41 record into Tuesday’s home game against Cincinnati. They improved to 54-44 after their first nine games of the second half a season ago.
