Tollhouse’s Walt Page places third at U.S. lumberjack finals
Local lumberjack Walt Page, 32 of Tollhouse, cut his way to a podium finish at the 2016 Stihl Timbersports U.S. Professional Championship, finishing tied for third after Saturday’s finals in Chicago.
Page, who was fifth overall after Friday’s semifinals, and Nathan Waterfield each finished with 26 points.
Matt Cogar, of Diana, W.V., became the first American athlete to win a national title for the fourth straight year with 42 out of a possible 48 points. His cousin, Arden Cogar Jr., was runner-up with 27.

It was Page’s fourth straight year competing at the national finals, and his best finish yet. He finished fourth in 2015, sixth in 2014 and 10th in 2013.
The Cal Poly graduate won last month’s Western Pro Qualifier in Sheldon, Wash. to qualify for the U.S. Championships.
