Fuego draw in San Diego, remain unbeaten in eight matches
The Fresno Fuego extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches, playing to a scoreless draw at San Diego Zest FC (6-1-4) in a USL PDL match on Saturday.
It was the Fuego’s (7-2-1) first draw of the season, after a string of seven straight wins saw them climb atop the Central Pacific Division standings. Fresno leads with 21 points, five ahead of second-place and defending division champ Burlingame (5-4-1), and are on track to return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2013 season.
Led by forward Christian Chaney, who leads the PDL with 12 goals scored, the Fuego will return to Chukchansi Park for their final two home matches of the season, hosting BYU Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and the Southern California Seahorses at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Fresno will play their final two matches of the season at Burlingame on July 8, and San Francisco City FC on July 10.
