Fresno City Amateur Golf Championship field includes eight past champs
Jonathan Keane will be back in Fresno this weekend looking to defend his title at the 89th Fresno City Amateur Golf Championship.
Keane won the title last year in his seventh time playing the annual Memorial Day weekend tournament, holding off a crowded leaderboard in the final round. Runner-up Michael Tolladay finished two strokes back while Jason Anthony and Danny Paniccia tied for third, three strokes behind Keane.
An investment counselor in San Francisco, Keane is one of eight former champs in the field of 148 who will tee it up starting Saturday at Riverside Golf Course.
Other former City Am champions in the field include three-time winners Paniccia (1996, 2010-11) and Doug Johnson (’76, ’81, ’98), two-time winner Conrad Nielmeier (’90, ’95) and Pace Johnson (’13), Jason Higton (’00), Greg Loosigian (’03) and Josh Watney (’05).
The first two rounds are scheduled to start at at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday before the field is cut to the top 40 and ties for the final round Monday.
