Christian Chaney’s header lifts Fuego past Las Vegas in PDL match

This time, the Fresno Fuego had to play a little catch-up.

It was only for five minutes, though.

Milton Blanco’s equalizer in the 22nd minute and Christian Chaney’s header in the 28th gave the Fuego a 2-1 victory over the Las Vegas Mobsters in a Premier Development League soccer match at Chukchansi Park on Saturday.

Blanco’s goal came off a free kick when the ball sailed over the goalkeeper and went in over the left side. He then assisted on Chaney’s goal.

The Mobsters went up 1-0 in the 17th minute when Milan Popovic scored from inside the box.

Fresno defeated Las Vegas 6-2 on Thursday.

The Fuego (2-2) will host the Burlingame Dragons at 7:30 p.m. June 2.

Freeze remain undefeated – The Fresno Freeze defeated the Hotspur Ladies 1-0 in a Women’s Premier Soccer League match.

Nikki Schrey scored in the 59th minute as the Freeze improved to 3-0.

Fresno will return to action June 2 at Chukchansi Park against the West Coast WildKatz.
