Clovis Rodeo announces tentative PBR field

The Clovis Rodeo will welcome two of the world’s Top 10 riders in the Professional Bull Riders circuit for its opening night next Thursday, April 21.

The PBR will bring its Touring Pro Division to the rodeo grounds, where No. 5-ranked Shane Proctor and No. 9 Mike Lee will lead the 40-man field, though the lineup is subject to change in the days leading up to the event.

Expected to join them are 11 other bull riders in the world top 50, including No. 15 Derek Kolbaba and No. 16 Lachlan Richardson of New Zealand.

Proctor, a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world champion in 2011, recently won the PBR’s Choctaw Casino Iron Cowboy major in Dallas for a grand prize of $115,625.

The 102nd Clovis Rodeo will take place April 21-24.

Two more days of PRCA Gold Tour Rodeo action will follow, along with the Clovis Rodeo parade and an after-party and dance April 23.
  • Tickets: $20-$30 at clovisrodeo.com, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the rodeo ticket office on the rodeo grounds, on Clovis Avenue between Bullard and Shaw in downtown Clovis, or by calling 559-299-5203. Parking is free.
