Tulare’s Daniel Valdivia scores TKO, wins NABF junior belt
Daniel Valdivia is now a champion.
The boxer from Tulare picked up a sixth-round technical knockout of Jeremy Ramos to become the NABF junior super welterweight champion as part of an eight-fight card Saturday at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore.
“I’m excited about this victory,” Valdivia said. “I want to thank my family, friends and fans for always believing in me and supporting me in this journey.”
It wasn’t easy for Valdivia. Both he and Ramos fell to the canvas in the second round. Valdivia kept his composure, then picked up the pace in the sixth. The time of the stoppage was 1 minute, 40 seconds.
A loss would have sent Daniel back to the starting line. This win moves him on to bigger things.
promoter Rick Mirigian said. “
Valdivia opened with hard rights and landed more big punches in the fourth.
“A loss would have sent Daniel back to the starting line,” promoter Rick Mirigian said. “This win moves him on to bigger things and a serious shot at TV spot on the Dec. 5 (card at the Save Mart Center featuring Jose Ramirez). This was a tough opponent and he pulled it off the best way possible.”
