NBA Fans Strongly Disagree With Kevin Durant's Warriors Statement
Kevin Durant's decision to sign with the Golden State Warriorsin 2016 drew a lot of criticism from fans and analysts alike. Many considered it a questionable move, as he joined the team he failed to defeat in the previous season despite leading 3-1 in the playoffs.
He also teamed up with the dynamic trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. However, the superstar forward said he felt as if he had joined an underdog team.
Durant stressed that he looked at the franchise's full history and not just the past few seasons. Golden State won the championship in 2015 and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals the following year.
"They never been a winning organization, nobody liked Golden State," Durant said in an interview on Barstool Sports. "I'm looking at the totality of the franchise, not what happened the last five years."

"They never been a winning organization, Nobody liked Golden State… I'm looking at the totality of the franchise, not what happened the last 5 years."…
Fans disagreed with his take and expressed their strong thoughts in the comments section.
"This is by far the dumbest thing he's ever said," one fan said.
"Bro really lost the plot…we not letting u rewrite history," a reaction read.
"He's delusional he can't believe what he's saying here there's no way he actually believes that he's coming to maybe the greatest team ever 2 straight final . A chip. They weren't a winning franchise a Steph won a unanimous MVP the year before he got there. Man this guy," one user wrote.
"The two time champs fresh off a 3 time finals trip were underdogs lolololol," posted another.
"Dude would join the Monstars and say they were the underdogs," one fan commented.
"This might be the worst sports take I've ever heard," another reaction read.
Durant and the Warriors won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018, with the Texas product earning Finals MVP honors in both years. He left the team in 2019 to join the Brooklyn Nets.
He stayed with the Nets until 2023 and had a chance to play alongside Kyrie Irving and James Harden. However, they didn't win a title together.
The Nets traded the 16-time All-Star to the Phoenix Suns in 2023, and he suited up for the franchise for two seasons. In July 2025, Durant was once again traded, this time to the Houston Rockets. They lost 4-2 to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
