Rams Urged to Bring Back Former Fan Favorite

The Los Angeles Rams look pretty solid going into the 2026 season. They were the talk of the NFL draft when they drafted Ty Simpson to likely be the successor to Matthew Stafford. They also made noise by snagging defensive end Myles Garrett.

So, yes, the Rams mean business. They want another Super Bowl. They don’t want to fall a few games short anymore. They’ve got Stafford and an A-list of offensive players, and now, they have Garrett on defense. Could it get any better? Maybe.

What if the Rams were to bring back a fan favorite? That’s what they’re being urged to do. In a piece for Bleacher Report, Brent Sobleski says that the team should bring back defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who was with the franchise for a decade.

“If Donald is seriously entertaining the possibility of unretiring and rejoining the Los Angeles Rams, the organization must do everything it can to make it a reality, because the idea of him and Myles Garrett on the same defensive front is nightmare fuel. Throw Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske and Byron Young into the mix and opposing offensive coordinators won’t sleep a wink the week they play the Rams.”

My Take: Aaron Donald Would Be the Nail in the Coffin for Other NFC Teams

If you’re looking to really put the nail in the coffin for other teams in the NFC, adding Donald on defense would do it. The Rams already have an explosive lineup. Donald would take things even further and solidify a tight defense that would be difficult for other NFL teams to get through.

There’s plenty of buzz about a possible Donald return. Quentin Lake of the Rams recently sent his former teammate a message, according to Nate Atkins of The Athletic, stating, “Hey, Aaron: If you’re listening to this, we would love to have you. You’d be a great addition. Enjoy retirement for now but know that door is always open.”

So, it seems like people both inside and outside of the Rams camp want Donald back. There’s really no downside to this happening.
