Angel City FC acquires Ally Sentnor from Kansas City
Angel City Football Club's in-season makeover continues with the addition of forward Ally Sentnor in a trade with the Kansas City Current.
Earlier this week, Angel City fired Coach Alex Straus and traded midfielder Kennedy Fuller to Bay FC. The acquisition of Sentnor cost the team $850,000 in intraleague transfer funds. The figure is believed to the second-highest in league history, trailing only Gotham FC acquiring Jaedyn Shaw for $1.25 million in September.
Sentnor, 22, was the No. 1 draft pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft to the Utah Royals. She was traded in August to the Current for a then-record $600,000 in transfer funds.
"This is an important moment for our team, and we are very excited to welcome Ally to Los Angeles," Angel City sporting director Mark Parsons said. "Ally is one of the world's top young talents, has senior U.S. women's national team experience, and has built up important minutes in the NWSL.
"Ally is a dynamic and creative attacker who has the ability to create and score goals in different ways. She has a fantastic mindset to compete and grow each day, while bringing important teammate qualities to our culture."
In her brief NWSL career, Sentnor has six goals and seven assists in 57 games. Sentnor brings versatility to Angel City – she can play as a forward, winger or in the midfield as the No. 10.
"I'm incredibly excited to join Angel City FC," Sentnor said in a statement. "What makes this club special is its commitment to excellence on the field and meaningful impact off it. The ambition, passion, and purpose throughout the organization are inspiring, and I'm eager to contribute in every way I can.
"Throughout my career, I've tried to approach every opportunity with more grit, more grace, and a commitment to doing more good and I'm excited to bring that mindset to Angel City and the Los Angeles community. I'm looking forward to competing alongside this talented group, connecting with the club's incredible supporters and helping make a positive impact both on and off the field."
Angel City returns from the NWSL's summer break on July 3 against the Orlando Pride. Leif Gunnar Smerud will serve as the interim coach. Smerud joined the club in May as a senior assistant coach.
