Harry Kane Makes Feelings Clear on Patrick Mahomes Ahead of NFL Season
With the United States co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup event, many of the biggest stars of international football have descended on the states, including England‘s Harry Kane.
Kane was one of several major stars who dazzled in his opening performance, scoring twice to help his team pick up an important opening win in Group L over Croatia.
The 4-2 win arrived in Arlington, Texas, with the two teams playing at Dallas Stadium, home of the NFL‘s Cowboys. Following that victory, Kane and England were also special guests of the Kansas City Royals baseball team this week.
The visits to the various NFL cities prompted questions for the footballer regarding his interest in the popular American sport, and Kane revealed he’s a fan, but not of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I’m a Patriots fan, yeah. I love my NFL. I was a big Tom Brady fan, which got me into the Patriots probably 15 years or so now. We had quite some good years. Obviously, Kansas had some good years as well,” Kane told reporters in Kansas City.
While he’s not necessarily a Chiefs fan, he certainly appreciates the talents of their superstar quarterback, who is recovering from his brutal season-ending injury.
“Mahomes is great. One of the best ever already … Hopefully he’s recovered well, obviously, from the injury he had last year. I’m sure he will, and he’ll be looking for another big season this year for sure,” Kane shared.
Like Mahomes, Kane is known for setting records for his teams and at the World Cup. In his first match against Croatia, his first of two goals arrived on a penalty goal in the first half.
That pushed Kane into the top spot with five penalty goals during his World Cup appearances, the most of any footballer, surpassing Lionel Messi and others who have four.
Messi also got off to a hot start with his game at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, with Mahomes watching and enjoying a hat trick from another all-time great sports star.
Next up for Kane will be a match on Tuesday against Ghana at the New England Patriots’ venue, Gillette Stadium, which is temporarily renamed Boston Stadium during the World Cup due to advertising.
