All-Bay Area News Group softball team

Player of the year

Kyleigh Mace, P, Archbishop Mitty, senior

BYU signee had a 0.83 ERA in 26 appearances and 151 2/3 innings, striking out 237 and walking 42. Led Mitty to CCS Open Division championship, the Monarchs' first since 2019, throwing a complete-game shutout in the title game. BANG player of the year and co-WCAL pitcher of the year.

First team

Alanna Clincy, P, Willow Glen, senior

Cal signee led the Rams to the CCS Open Division final, beating St. Francis in the semifinals. Posted a 0.85 ERA in 26 appearances, going 13-5 with 241 strikeouts against 57 walks in 123 ⅓ innings. Also hit .371 with two home runs, 20 RBIs and eight runs in 91 plate appearances. BVAL Mt. Hamilton MVP.

Mercedes Coller, P, St. Francis, sophomore

Co-WCAL pitcher of the year posted a 1.55 ERA in 20 appearances, striking out 101 against 39 walks in 94 ⅔ innings. Went 13-3, leading the Lancers to a shared WCAL title with Mitty, the CCS Open Division semifinals and the CIF NorCal Division I semifinals.

Jewel Cooper, C, Liberty, junior

LSU commit and Bay Valley Athletic League MVP hit .500 with 10 home runs, 36 RBIs and 26 runs in 75 plate appearances.

Giselle De Casas, SS, Castro Valley, senior

LSU signee hit .538 with 38 RBIs, 43 hits, 17 extra-base hits, five homers, nine walks and a 1.478 OPS in 23 games. WACC Foothill player of the year.

MJ Fikes, C, Archbishop Mitty, sophomore

Combined with Mace to form an elite battery that powered the Monarchs to the CCS Open title. Hit .605 with 18 home runs, 40 RBIs, 28 runs and 19 walks to earn a .687 on-base percentage in 99 plate appearances. Co-WCAL player of the year.

Kendrick Jobe, P/IF, Salesian, freshman

First-year sensation hit .712 with 48 RBIs, 47 hits, 26 extra-base hits, 10 home runs, 37 runs, 13 walks, no strikeouts and an OPS of 2.226. Also pitched briefly, making two appearances with an ERA of 2.33, and stole 24 bases. Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division player of the year.

Julia Lambert, P, Alameda, junior

Led Alameda to share of West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division regular-season title and top seed in NCS Division I bracket as well as the NorCal Division II final. Had a 1.49 ERA with 179 strikeouts against 47 walks in 26 appearances and 155 ⅓ innings. Also hit .374 with 24 RBIs, 12 extra-base hits, two homers and six runs in 97 plate appearances.

Lila McLeod, P, San Ramon Valley, junior

Washington commit posted a 1.60 ERA in 28 appearances, striking out 156 batters against 45 walks in 161 ⅔ innings. EBAL first-teamer led the Wolves to the NCS Division I championship, their first section title in school history.

Laine Macosky, SS, Livermore, senior

Northwestern signee hit .537 with 30 RBIs, 44 hits and 38 runs in 29 games. East Bay Athletic League MVP led the Cowboys to an undefeated season in league play and the Livermore Stampede championship.

Ava Norquist, P, Los Gatos, junior

Siena College commit hit .397 with 16 runs, 31 hits, 25 RBIs, 11 extra-base hits and three home runs. Went 15-3 in the circle, compiling an ERA of 1.58 in 20 appearances with 113 strikeouts against 19 walks in 106 ⅓ innings. Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division most valuable player.

Kaci Norton, P, Livermore, senior

EBAL defensive player of the year and Fort Hays State signee went 20-3 in the circle with a 1.27 ERA in 26 appearances, compiling 155 strikeouts against 32 walks in 138 innings.

Jaime Oakland, OF, St. Francis, senior

Co-WCAL player of the year hit .594 with 16 RBIs and 38 runs as the tone-setter at the top of the Lancers' lineup. Nebraska signee compiled 57 hits, walked nine times and struck out four, finishing with an on-base percentage of .623 and an OPS of 1.342.

Kate Skinner, P, Liberty, senior

Most valuable pitcher of the Bay Valley Athletic League finished with a 2.30 ERA and a record of 9-5 with 170 strikeouts against 50 walks in 20 appearances and 88 ⅓ innings. The Illinois State commit also hit .400 with three home runs, five doubles and a 1.232 OPS in 37 plate appearances.

Alexis Weiler, OF, College Park, junior

Hit .442 with 34 runs, 46 hits, 24 RBIs and 15 extra-base hits. Also stole nine bases. DAL Foothill co-most valuable player.

Gianna Willes, 2B, Livermore, junior

Cal commit hit .437 with 43 RBIs, six home runs, 24 runs, 16 extra-base hits, an OBP of .490 and an OPS of 1.260 in 102 plate appearances.

Taylor Workman, SS, Aragon, junior

PAL Bay player of the year hit .692 with 45 hits, 41 runs, 24 RBIs, 20 extra-base hits, seven home runs and 19 walks in 87 plate appearances. The Clemson commit also stole eight bases.

Second team

Bianka Fisher, P, St. Francis, sophomore

After making a cameo as a JV call-up last season, including playing a big role in St. Francis' CCS Open title win over Willow Glen, Fisher went 8-2 in the circle in 20 appearances, recording an ERA of 0.39 with 91 strikeouts against 17 walks in 71 innings. WCAL first-teamer.

Ashley Herman, P/2B, Northgate, senior

Co-DAL Foothill MVP and Biola University signee hit .425 with 25 RBIs, 21 runs, 31 hits and an OPS of 1.182 in 90 plate appearances. Also made 25 appearances in the circle, going 14-3 with a 2.97 ERA and 215 strikeouts against 67 walks.

Celia Hernandez, P, San Mateo, junior

PAL Bay pitcher of the year had a 2.37 ERA in 24 appearances, striking out 117 against 35 walks in 135 ⅔ innings. Went 18-4 and added a save, leading San Mateo to a league title and CCS Division I semifinal berth. Also hit .382 with 13 RBIs, eight doubles, a home run and three runs in 82 plate appearances.

Addie Layous, OF, San Ramon Valley, senior

Cornell signee and EBAL first-teamer hit .394 with 32 runs, 43 hits, 21 RBIs, 12 extra-base hits, two home runs and seven walks in 117 plate appearances to set the table atop the Wolves’ potent lineup.

Kaitlyn Macias, P/1B, Liberty, senior

Bay Valley Athletic League first-teamer hit .356 with 14 runs, 26 hits, 17 RBIs and four home runs. Weber State signee also made 13 appearances in the circle, going 6-1 with a 2.62 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 29 ⅓ innings.

Miley Gradney, IF, Alameda, junior

Hit .358 with 22 RBIs, 34 hits, 23 runs, nine extra-base hits, three homers and five walks in 29 games and 105 plate appearances. WACC Foothill first-teamer.

Sienna Rios, C, Moreau Catholic, junior

Sacramento State commit hit .538 with 53 RBIs, 51 runs, 49 hits, 26 extra-base hits, 15 walks in 112 plate appearances and an OPS of 1.702. Mission Valley Athletic League MVP.

Mai Falcone, UT, Amador Valley, senior

Cornell signee hit .468 with 21 RBIs, 24 hits, 19 walks, 19 extra-base hits, 10 home runs and just two strikeouts in 70 plate appearances. The EBAL first-teamer had an OPS of 1.941.

Isabella Flores, P/IF, Piedmont Hills, senior

Redlands signee hit .663 with 61 hits, 49 RBIs, 48 runs, 35 extra-base hits, 15 walks and an OPS of 2.061 in 108 plate appearances. Also went 9-1 in the circle with a 1.23 ERA, 115 strikeouts and 33 walks in 62 ⅔ innings.

Mia DeMartini, IF, Hillsdale, senior

Nevada signee hit .474 with 40 RBIs, 46 hits, 23 extra-base hits, 27 runs and a 1.320 OPS in 101 plate appearances. PAL Bay first-teamer led Hillsdale to the CCS Division I championship game.

Alanys Robertson, UT, Castro Valley, junior

All-around threat hit .414 with 27 RBIs, 29 runs, 36 hits, eight doubles, two triples and three homers to record a 1.107 OPS in 94 plate appearances. Also went 3-2 in the circle with a 1.04 ERA in 23 appearances, covering 100 ⅔ innings and striking out 139 against 25 walks. WACC Foothill first-teamer.

Julia Simon, UT, Presentation, senior

UC Riverside signee hit .565 with 21 RBIs, 22 runs, 26 hits, eight doubles, three homers, 18 walks and an OPS of 1.649 in 70 plate appearances. WCAL first-teamer led Presentation to its first CCS playoff berth in five years.

Mackenzie Smith, P, Homestead, junior

SCVAL De Anza pitcher of the year had an ERA of 1.17, striking out 132 against 52 walks in 114 innings while going 7-4 with two saves. Also chipped in at the plate with 15 hits, 12 RBIs, three runs, four doubles and a homer.

Emma Tang, UT, Silver Creek, senior

Hit .560 with 41 RBIs, 41 runs, 42 hits, 29 extra-base hits, 10 home runs and 24 walks in 104 plate appearances to reach an OPS of 2.046. BVAL Santa Teresa co-MVP.

Grace Tucker, SS, Los Gatos, senior

Hit .443 with 41 RBIs, 38 runs and 17 extra-base hits (five homers) to pace Los Gatos’ offense with an OPS of 1.214 in 102 plate appearances. Dominican University signee also excelled in the field, winning co-SCVAL De Anza defensive player of the year along with her double-play partner, second baseman Olivia Sickels.

Nichaela West, UT, Alhambra, sophomore

DAL Foothill first-teamer hit .459 with 37 RBIs, 39 hits, 28 runs, 16 doubles and three triples, also drawing 12 walks to finish with an OPS of 1.243 in 100 plate appearances. Led Alhambra to the NCS Division III championship game, beating Bishop O'Dowd in the quarterfinals with a walk-off single in extra innings.
