NRFI, YRFI MLB Bets Today: Best First Inning Predictions for Friday, June 19

The Toronto Blue Jays have their horse Kevin Gausman on the hill looking to cash an NRFI against the Chicago Cubs. The Milwaukee Brewers have arguably the best pitcher in baseball in RHP Jacob Misiorowski looking to tame the Atlanta Braves. We like the YRFI in the Coors Field matchup pairing the Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies.

It's a nearly full slate for Friday, but the Jays and Cubs game will start in the afternoon, so get those wagers in early.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today

Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago Cubs NRFI (-140)

The Jays helped us cash a YRFI Thursday, but we're looking for an NRFI in this matchup. Jays RHP Kevin Gausman is 4-4 with a 3.41 ERA. His numbers in the first are so-so with a 4.20 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .232 in the frame off of him, and he has kept it clean in his last two starts. For the Cubbies, RHP Ben Brown is their best pitcher at 3-2 with a 1.74 ERA. He has allowed just one run in seven first frames.

Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves NRFI (-165)

We're running out of superlatives for Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski. He's 8-2 with a 1.34 ERA and has struck out 131 batters in 87 innings. Naturally, he dominates in the first with a 1.29 ERA and 27 punchouts in 14 innings. On the other side, LHP Martin Perez goes for the Braves. He's 5-3 with a 2.90 ERA. He's a little iffy in the first with a 4.50 ERA, but with how nasty "The Miz" has been, we still like the NRFI.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Colorado Rockies YRFI (-145)

Pirates RHP Bubba Chandler sounds like a guy you'd want to befriend in a dive bar, but on the mound, he's just 2-7 with a 4.76 ERA. He has a 6.23 ERA in the first. Rockies LHP Kyle Freeland takes the ball at 1-7 with a 7.98 ERA. He's from the area, and he had some success in the thin air earlier in his career. That has fizzled out with a 7.50 ERA at home this year. He has a 9.75 ERA in the first this season.

What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?

The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
