College Football Fans React To Lane Kiffin's National Title Guarantee

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin has never been lacking for confidence. But with the university giving him pretty much everything possible to build a team the way he wants, he seems more confident than ever that he can deliver a national title.

Appearing on the In The Bayou With Tyrann Mathieu podcast, Kiffin promised to deliver a national title to the Tigers. He said that while he doesn't know when it will happen, he expects it to happen.

"I don't know how fast it's going to happen, but we're going to win a national championship. We're going to have the teams and the rosters back to the way they were playing when they were great. I don't know how fast. It might not be today, but it's going to happen," Kiffin said.

"I feel it in recruiting too. Now that we've got our staff fully here and we know how to sell LSU because we're meeting with everyone, it's one of one. It's what Nick Saban said. It's the best job in America."

Doubts Emerge

College football fans were mixed and a bit skeptical on whether Kiffin would be able to deliver on that promise. Some believe his overconfidence will be his downfall while others believe he has everything he needs to make good on the pledge:

"Imagine saying you are going to win a national title when you have never even won a playoff game lmao wowww," one user said dismissively.

"I believe him. He has a drive to reach the pinnacle & I hope he becomes the first LSU Head Coach to win multiple championships," wrote another.

"Narcissistic leadership. Locker room will cannibalize itself," a third remarked.

"Can you spell 'fired in three years'?"

"To be fair, if you're coaching at LSU, national championships are the expectation."

"Already making excuses! LSU will eat him up. Can't wait for 4th and long or not kicking a FG inside 30. I think he has to be maturing as a coach. Lsu is a tough spot to lose the games you should win."

The Tigers paid an arm and a leg, both to bring Kiffin into the fold and to axe his predecessor, Brian Kelly. Anything less than immediate national title contention is going to have Baton Rouge up in arms.
