Cam Skattebo Not Changing His Playing Style After 2025 Injury
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2025 with a bruising running style that made him one of the most exciting players in the NFL watch for the better part of two months. But despite his season ending with an ankle injury, he has no intentions of changing how he plays.
Appearing on NFL Network, Skattebo made it clear that he won't be changing a thing. He believes that the ankle injury "is what it is" and that he has "plenty of football left," so he's not going to let it affect him. He declared that he's going to resume "running people over" and be "normal Cam Skattebo" moving forward.
"It ain't gonna change who I am," Skattebo said. "I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I've still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I'm not going to let this little ankle thing bother me. I'm going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos. It's going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out."
Concerns for the Future
NFL fans were immediately concerned that Skattebo is setting himself up for many more injuries, a very short career and possibly even CTE after he retires.
"He might play 4 games this season. Dude is a walking concussion. He'll be out of the league before his rookie deal is over," one user remarked on X.
"Injured by week 7," another user predicted.
"Career will be short lived," a third wrote.
Over eight games as a rookie, Skattebo had 101 carries for 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He was solid in the receiving game as well, making 24 receptions for 207 yards and two more touchdowns. Prorated over 17 games, he might have ended the season with double-digit touchdowns and over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
If he can reach that level of production as the Giants' starter in 2026, perhaps the ends will justify the means.
