Kylian Mbappe Makes History in France-Senegal World Cup Game
French superstar forward Kylian Mbappe has been otherworldly during his time in professional soccer. The 27-year-old, who began his career in France's Ligue 1, first with Monaco then with Paris Saint-Germain, has spent the past two seasons in Spain's La Liga with Real Madrid.
He became PSG's all-time leading goal scorer during his seven years with the club, scoring 256 goals in 308 appearances in all competitions, etching his name into France's soccer history books.
Mbappe has also been incredible for the France national team since making his senior international debut in 2017. He helped his country win the 2018 World Cup and scored a hat trick in the 2022 World Cup final against Argentina.
Mbappe began his third World Cup campaign with France when the team took on Senegal in Group I at New York New Jersey Stadium on Tuesday. After a scoreless first half between the two squads, Mbappe took over in the second half, scoring a brace to help France win 3-1.
With these two goals, Mbappe moved into first place all-time on France's international scoring list, with Nos. 57 and 58.
"58 goals in 99 international games. No one like Kylian Mbappé in France whole history. Oliver Giroud's record, broken. ," said soccer insider Fabrizio Romano.

In just 99 international appearances, Mbappe passed legendary French forward Olivier Giroud, who scored 57 goals in 137 games.
He is also close to making some World Cup history, as with his two goals on Tuesday, Mbappe sits at 14 goals in the tournament, just two shy of tying Germany's Miroslav Klose's world record of 16.
Mbappe will have an opportunity to take down Klose's record when France takes on Iraq in its second group stage match on Monday at 5 p.m. ET in Philadelphia.
