Maple Leafs Sign Forward to Three-Year Contract Amid NHL Offseason

The Toronto Maple Leafs are moving early in the offseason and looking to build for the future of the organization.

Toronto announced a move involving one of their recent draft picks on Monday, revealing that forward Tinus Luc Koblar has signed a three-year entry-level contract.

Koblar, 18, was selected with the No. 64 overall pick by Toronto in the second round of the 2025 NHL Draft and now takes the next step toward joining the organization after spending a year playing overseas.

"The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed forward Tinus Luc Koblar to a three-year entry-level contract," the Leafs said in their official release.

The six-foot-three center spent the 2025-26 season with Leksands IF in the Swedish Hockey League, recording 14 points with eight goals and six assists in 47 games against professional competition.

Koblar's performance extended beyond league play, particularly on the international stage.

"Koblar registered 10 points (five goals, five assists) in five games" at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, the Leafs' statement noted, while adding that he "recorded nine points (six goals, three assists) in 10 games" at the 2026 IIHF World Championship.

In representing Norway at the 2026 Worlds, Koblar already logged his first senior games with his country, helping it reach the semifinals for the first time in the nation's World Championship history.

Koblar led the team in scoring during the tournament and delivered key performances, including a multi-point game against Canada in preliminary play.

While Koblar projects as part of the organization's forward pipeline as he transitions to North American hockey following his season in Sweden, it's unlikely he'll earn a spot in the opening-night roster for the 2026-27 season.
