210 fall athletes to watch over 70 days

Carolina Lorca, Palma flag football: A four-sport standout at Palma, who could see time at quarterback this fall, Lorca caught 68 passes for 1,035 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

A ball-hawking defender, the junior linebacker also got her hands on 17 interceptions and led the Chieftains in flag pulls with 122, earning Gabilan Division all-league honors.

Caden Scherer, Hartnell football: An all-conference selection last year, Scherer led the Panthers in tackles, averaging just under eight a contest.

The former Palma inside linebacker brought an attitude that was contagious, adding two sacks and eight tackles for losses for Hartnell, while recording an interception.

Charlotte Johnson, Salinas volleyball: A returning all-leaguer, Johnson compiled nearly 200 kills last season for the Gabilan Division champion Cowboys.

Not only is the senior among the top returning hitters at the net in the county, but Johnson led Salinas in blocks last fall with 48, and is used in the back row on defense.
