Air Jordan 6 ‘White Infrared': OG Roots, Nike Air & Where to Buy in 2026

Some sneakers are memories with laces, and the Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" (CT8529-105) is one of them. With the OG colorway set to return later this year, my mind keeps flashing back to the 1991 NBA Finals when the Chicago Bulls beat Magic Johnson's Lakers to win the first of six championships.

Tinker Hatfield's Air Jordan 6 was on Michael Jordan's feet when he lifted the Larry O'Brien Trophy for the first time. The Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" carries that same championship legacy, and I can't wait for release day. Let's get into it.

Sneaker Bar Detroit reports an expected release date of November 7, 2026, for the Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" (Style Code: CT8529-105). It's clear Jordan Brand wants all of my November paycheck. The OG colorway is scheduled to return just weeks before the must-cop Air Jordan 4 OG "Bred" arrives on Black Friday, creating a one-two punch that could leave sneakerheads making some difficult decisions.

An OG Colorway Worth the Wait

It's been more than a decade since we last saw the Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" hit shelves, and this time Jordan Brand appears to have understood the assignment. The 2014 retro updated the shape, cut, and branding for a more modern look, but some of those changes took away from what made the original so special.

According to House of Heat, the 2026 Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" will return with true-to-OG details, including the 1991 build and Nike Air branding on the heel. Nothing against the Jumpman, but this is an original colorway and deserves to be treated like one. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why the Air Jordan 6 Still Matters

Before I fell in love with the Air Jordan 11, the AJ6 was the sneaker that held the top spot for me. Beyond the championship connection, it was the sleek build, perforated paneling, and precision-cut overlays that won me over. Everything about the design looked fast and futuristic, but it wasn't just the look-it was the feel.

The tongue tabs and spoiler-inspired heel made the AJ6 a breeze to slip on, while the plush interior and visible Air unit delivered all-day comfort. Whether on the court or off, the sneaker simply works. It also ages remarkably well. The Air Jordan 6 is one of those sneakers that, if you take care of it, it'll take care of you.

Should You Buy the Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared"?

The Air Jordan 6 "White Infrared" (Style Code: CT8529-105) was hot 35 years ago, and it's still hot today. I've bought nearly every pair of AJ6s released this year, save for the "Bin 23." When these drop on November 7, I'll be entering raffles and draws in hopes of securing my size 14.

The clean white base and Infrared detailing make them easy to style, while the OG-inspired build ensures they'll be just as enjoyable to wear as they are to look at. If you're trying to choose between these and the Air Jordan 4 "Bred," I don't envy the decision. As for me, I'm setting money aside for both.
