Victor Wembanyama Criticizes 'Unacceptable' Fan Behavior During NBA Finals

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama isn't thrilled with New York Knicks fans at the moment.

The scene in New York City was chaotic to say the least after the Knicks lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals. According to reports, 21 people were taken into custody and five fans were arrested for improper behavior on Monday night. The majority of these violent acts reportedly unfolded at Manhattan's Bryant Park.

There were also videos on social media that showed Knicks fans attacking Spurs fans on the streets of New York City. Ron Harper, a five-time NBA champion and the father of Spurs star Dylan Harper, addressed those videos earlier this Tuesday.

"I've to get this off my chest FANS we do not need to fight other fans that wear different jerseys to support their teams," Harper said. "It's not only in the NBA, but all major sports and college this is sad a mob jump on kids families parents let show some respect and go cheer the teams on…"

When it was brought to Wembanyama's attention that Spurs fans were attacked outside of Madison Square Garden, he delivered a message to unruly Knicks fans.

"I am all for passion, but to the respect of each other," Wembanyama said. "It's unacceptable."

Getting ready for Game 4.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani issued a warning to Knicks fans after several NYPD officers were assaulted.

"New Yorkers are understandably passionate about the Knicks, and the overwhelming majority of fans watched the game last night in ways that were both safe and fun," a spokesperson for Mamdani said. "But the fights and other disruptive incidents - including assaults on police officers - in various parts of the city are unacceptable and will not be tolerated."

The current expectation is that New York will host a watch party outside MSG for Game 4 on Wednesday.

"We will have no tolerance for violence, particularly violence against police officers, destruction of property, climbing on light poles or structures, blocking emergency vehicles or other chaotic behavior," NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
