Jalen Brunson Points to Knicks Teammates After Game 1 Heroics

Jalen Brunson's Game 1 performance gave the New York Knicks a 1-0 series lead over the San Antonio Spurs. However, he credited his teammates for all doing their roles in securing the win.

He also shrugged off an injury scare early in Wednesday's matchup. Brunson spearheaded New York's 14-point comeback, which began in the third quarter. The three-time All-Star thanked his teammates after Wednesday's game and expressed gratitude for their trust.

"I think it starts with my confidence, it comes with my work ethic, but most importantly, knowing we're on the road and knowing my teammates have my back, I think that's the biggest thing in an environment like this," Brunson said.

"The trust they have in me, the trust I have in them, it's got us to this point. So I'm very thankful for them in every single night we go out there together.

Brunson scored a game-high 30 points, along with three rebounds and two assists. He struggled from the field, shooting only 12-for-31. However, he made timely baskets and energized his teammates for a 105-95 win.

Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby contributed 18 and 17 points, respectively. Josh Hart chipped in with three points, 15 rebounds and six dimes.

If Brunson can improve his efficiency in Game 2 on Friday, he can guide New York to a 2-0 lead before the series shifts to Madison Square Garden for Games 3 and 4.

At this point, Brunson and Co. are just three wins away from bringing home the Larry O'Brien trophy to New York.
