Sonoma Valley baseball, Justin-Siena softball to play in state tournaments
Local North Coast Section champions on Sunday learned their seedings for the California Interscholastic Federation's Northern California playoffs that begin this week.
Justin-Siena softball, the NCS Division 6 winner, and Sonoma Valley baseball, the Division 5 winner, will be playing in the opening stages of the regional tournament starting Tuesday. Both teams are making their first-ever appearances in the NorCal postseason
Petaluma's softball team, which won the NCS Division 3 title, elected to opt out of NorCals due to prior commitments for a handful of its players.
Sonoma Valley (16-12) is the No. 8 seed in NorCal Division 4 and will play at top seed Half Moon Bay (20-9), the Central Coast Section Division 5 champion, at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Justin-Siena (11-13) is the No. 7 seed in Division 5 and will play at No. 2 Le Grand (19-7), the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 7 champion, at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
