Tony Romo On Verge Of All-Time Cowboys Franchise Honor

Tony Romo won't make it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame - the longtime NFL quarterback didn't have the postseason success needed to make it into Canton - but he should still be honored in an all-time way by the Dallas Cowboys.

Romo, who went from going undrafted to becoming one of the best quarterbacks in Dallas Cowboys franchise history, had a great career. He made four Pro Bowls, won multiple playoff games and was even a second-team All-Pro during the 2014 season, when the Cowboys lost a heartbreaker to the Packers in the Divisional Round.

He carried the Dallas franchise for the better part of a decade, despite playing behind some shaky offensive lines and with some bad defenses, for much of his career. He rarely had the type of support he needed to make deep playoff runs.

Romo, who was ultimately replaced by Dak Prescott, when he got injured during the 2016 season, has since become one of the league's top broadcasters. He's part of CBS's No. 1 broadcasting booth, alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.

But while Romo has been retired for nearly a decade, he could soon be honored by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys franchise.

Romo could be next in Dallas' Ring of Honor

The Ring of Honor isn't the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but being honored by the iconic Cowboys franchise is still a great accomplishment.

Romo is expected to be next on the list in Dallas.

He could ultimately go in with his longtime playing partner, Jason Witten.

"On some level it would be poetic for Romo and Witten to go in together, and maybe for Smith and Martin to do so as well. It took almost a decade into Ware's retirement for him to get his moment and we are right about there with both Romo and Witten. It has only been a year since Smith and Martin called it a career," Blogging With The Boys wrote.

"Do you agree that Romo and/or Witten are the most likely people to get enshrined into the Ring of Honor next? Or do you have another thought?"

It would be an emotional moment in Dallas, that's for sure.
