Western quarterback Chance Thomas, who recently committed to Kansas, has enrolled at Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas, his father Charles Thomas confirmed Wednesday.
Thomas (6-3, 195) emerged as one of Orange County’s top quarterbacks the past two seasons at Western. He committed to Kansas in early May.
As a junior in 2025, Thomas completed 72 percent of his passes for 3,327 yards and 33 touchdowns.
He earned co-offensive player of the year in the Delta League.
As a sophomore, Thomas threw for 1,736 yards and 17 TDs in his first season at Western.
He arrived at Western from Serra of Gardena.
“I’m happy and proud of everything Chase did for us,” Western coach Dan Davidson said. “I think the world of him.”
Thomas is the second high-profile Orange County player to transfer to Bishop Gorman in the offseason. Mater Dei wide receiver Gavin Honore (5-10, 180) confirmed his transfer in January.
Last season, Bishop Gorman finished 11-1 and ranked No. 3 in the nation by MaxPreps.
The Gaels’ loss came at home against Mater Dei 27-24. They beat Santa Margarita 14-0 in Orange County.
This fall, Bishop Gorman is expected to play host to St. John Bosco on Aug. 21 and play Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium on Sept. 18.
Western’s No. 1 quarterback will junior-to-be Ethan Esmailian, a transfer from Morse in San Diego, Davidson said.
He passed for 1,684 yards, 17 TDs and no interceptions in 11 games last season.
As a freshman, Esmailian played at Mission Viejo.
Western plays host to its passing tournament June 6.
