Vacaville's Stream, Vanden's Sizemore double up at SJS Masters track finals

Vacaville High School's Cooper Stream pulled out wins in the boys 1,600 meters and 3,200 during the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Track and Field Championships in Folsom on Saturday.

Stream won the 1,600 with a time of 4 minutes, 8.54 seconds, edging out Peter Kendall of Twelve Bridges (4:08.97). He then narrowly topped Matthew Ogilvie of Jesuit (9:01.75) in the 3200 with a time of 9:01.10.

With the wins, Stream advanced to the CIF State Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at Buchanan High School in Clovis. The junior will look to add more hardware to his collection after capturing Vacaville's first cross country state title in November.

Vanden's Naiaja Sizemore also qualified for the state meet, winning the girls 100-meter dash (11.78) and 200 (23.85) for the second straight year. The Ohio State-bound senior will aim to defend her titles from a year ago.

Joining Stream and Sizemore in Clovis will be Will C. Wood's DeShawn Seymour Jr., who finished second in the boys 100 (10.50) and third in the 200 (21.57). The top three finishers in each event advanced to the state finals.

Vacaville girls distance star Khloe DeLaTorre fell just short of qualifying, finishing fourth in the 1600 (4:54.55). On the boys side, William Wurzbach placed eighth in the 1600 (4:16.69), while Ty Hundley finished eighth in the 3200 (9:17.75).

Wood's Alex Pelayo, Sir Sams, Bill Luu and Donovan Pizzo were fifth in the boys 4-by-800 relay (8:05.00), while Seymour, Pelayo, Timmothy Pinkney Jr. and Kosygin Rodriguez-Outlaw finished seventh in the 4-by-400 (3:22.50).

Vanden's Brooklyn Hill was fifth in the girls shot put (36 feet, 4.75 inches), while Vacaville Christian's Josie Krulick placed 12th in the girls 1600 (5:09.17) and 19th in the 3200 (11:12.30).
