NBA Insider Sounds Alarm on Thunder After Game 4 Loss
The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a lopsided blowout loss at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night, surrendering a 103-82 final score in Game 4.
The Western Conference Finals series is now tied 2-2 as it heads back to Oklahoma City for Game 5.
The Thunder struggled with both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell sidelined by injuries. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for Oklahoma City, held to just 19 points to go along with his team-high four turnovers.
ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst sounded the alarm on the Thunder following this blowout loss.
“[The Spurs] played with an appropriate level of force from a team whose season was under threat. It wasn’t an elimination game, but if you go down 3-1 going on the road, you’re cooked,” Windhorst said.
“Going forward in this series, the alarm bells should be going off a little bit for the Thunder because this was the first game they played in the playoffs without Ajay Mitchell and Jalen Williams. And boy, did it make a difference in their offensive creation,” he continued. “It’s one thing when you’re missing one. But when you’re missing two, it puts so much stress on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to create.”

The Thunder are evaluating both Mitchell (calf) and Williams (hamstring) on a day-to-day basis. It’s unclear if either will be able to return to the court at any point during this Western Conference Finals series.
