Padres minors: Alex McCoy hits ninth homer for TinCaps, David Morgan takes loss for El Paso
Alex McCoy did a lot of the heavy lifting for high Single-A Fort Wayne on Sunday.
The undrafted free agent hit his ninth homer and drove in four runs, leading the TinCaps to a 6-3 win over visiting Dayton.
McCoy, 24, also doubled in a three-hit game to push his batting line to .303/.368/.599. He has driven in 28 runs through 41 games and is also up to eight steals after swiping third base on Sunday.
Shortstop Jonathan Vastine (.491 OPS) hit his third homer, third baseman Zach Evans (.591 OPS) collected two hits and designated hitter Carlos Rodriguez (.657 OPS) and second baseman Justin DeCriscio (.792 OPS) both had a double.
Right-hander Clay Edmondson (0.47 ERA) saved his 10th game with a scoreless ninth.
Left-hander Jamie Hitt (5.46 ERA) allowed three runs in five innings in the start.
Fort Wayne is 22-23.

He struck out seven. DH Will Wagner (.821 OPS) walked twice and drove in three runs on his second homer. SS Mason McCoy (.828 OPS) went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Frisco 8, Missions 1: RHP Miguel Mendez (1-1, 5.49 ERA) allowed three runs in 2⅓ innings in the loss. LHP Omar Cruz (5.14 ERA) struck out three and walked three over 2⅔ scoreless innings. C Ethan Salas (.843 OPS) went 0-for-4. 1B Romeo Sanabria (.759 OPS) went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.
LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (25-20)
Storm 10, Visalia 3: 3B Kerrington Cross (1.064 OPS) hit his fourth homer and swiped his sixth base. DH Bradley Frye (.746 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a walk. SS Jorge Quintana (.603 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. 1B Truitt Madonna (.789 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, three walks and a steal.
