Bryson DeChambeau Appears To Be Flirting With Early Retirement
It appears Bryson DeChambeau is scrambling for answers on and off the golf course.
DeChambeau has been in the headlines the past few weeks due to LIV Golf's uncertain future and his personal struggles at the majors. He also ruffled feathers by suggesting his YouTube channel could become his priority.
"I think, from my perspective, I'd love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more," DeChambeau said. "I would love to. I'd love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I'd love to play tournaments that want me."
DeChambeau followed up that statement by shooting 76-71 at the PGA Championship and missing the cut.
During an appearance on the "Katie Miller Pod" this week, DeChambeau addressed his future as a professional golfer. The two-time U.S. Open champion revealed that he's not sure what's next for his career.
"I'm in that weird space right now, I don't know what to do, either: Content creation or professional golf," DeChambeau said. "I don't know what to do right now."
That doesn't sound like someone who is committed to the PGA Tour, LIV Golf or any professional circuit.
Fans have no sympathy for Bryson
While it sounds like DeChambeau is going through a rough patch, golf fans have made it clear they don't feel bad for him.
"Content is the only way. Clearly. He's got no future playing competitively. Perhaps the YouTube tour will take him," one fan replied.
"No way is this real? Good lord, dude. You're a professional golfer," a second fan said.
"Bryson is the guy who has no intention of bailing on plans but says he might because he wants everyone in the group chat to beg him to come," another fan declared.
"Someone in his life needs to tell him to pull his head out of his [expletive]," a fan commented.
With the U.S. Open set to begin on June 18, DeChambeau doesn't have much time to snap out of this slump.
