Dolphins' Malik Willis Questions Front Office Decision
On March 9, former Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis followed new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan by signing with the Miami Dolphins.
Willis signed a three-year contract worth $67.5 million and is expected to get an opportunity to start for the Dolphins after showing impressive skills when he came in for Jordan Love last season.
The Dolphins are putting Willis in a tough position this offseason. Miami released wide receiver Tyreek Hill in February. On March 17, a little over a week after Willis signed with the Dolphins, the team traded star receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos.

When speaking to reporters at OTAs on Tuesday, Willis said it was “unfortunate” that the Dolphins traded Waddle.
“It was unfortunate, for sure, to say the least,” Willis said, via NFL Media. “That’s a really good player and I would have loved to play with him, but that’s above my pay grade, brother. Out of my hands.”
It’s a fair comment from Willis, who wants to prove he can be a long-term starter in the league. Miami’s rebuild has left a lot to be desired in the pass-catching department.
Malik Washington will be the Dolphins’ leading returning receiver from 2025. He recorded 46 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns.
Miami will have heavy competition for their receiver corps this fall. The Dolphins signed Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and Terrace Marshall Jr. in free agency. Miami added Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell in Day 2 of April’s draft. The Dolphins added Kevin Coleman Jr. in the fifth round.
The names mentioned above won’t strike fear in the heart of opposing defenses this spring.
Willis was surrounded by receiver talent during his two years in Green Bay. It will be on him to push the ball down the field with the receivers he has until the Dolphins can find true replacements for Hill and Waddle.
