Kansas City Chiefs Facing Pressure To Cut WR Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs have a serious Rashee Rice problem on their hands.
Rice, who was suspended by the NFL for five games in 2025, previously pleaded guilty to a pair of third-degree felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury. These charges came from a horrific chain-reaction crash in Dallas on March 30, 2024.
As if that wasn't chaotic enough, there were concerning accusations surrounding Rice earlier this year. His ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones, said she dealt with domestic violence for the past eight years. The NFL, however, determined that he didn't violate its personal conduct policy.
So Rice is in the clear right? Well, not exactly.
Dallas County court documents state that Rice tested positive for THC. Since he violated his probation from the 2024 car crash, he'll have to serve 30 days in jail. He's be released on June 16.
Rice will now miss OTAs and mandatory minicamp for the Chiefs.
As you'd imagine, Kansas City's fan base has reached its breaking point with Rice. There are plenty of fans who want him off the team before Week 1 arrives.
"Chiefs, why is this guy still on the team after causing so much trouble," one fan asked.
"CUT HIM NOW," another fan declared.
"They just got to trade or release him at this point," a Chiefs fan said.
"Seriously......get this guy away from our team," another Chiefs fan commented.
Will the Chiefs actually cut him?
The Chiefs have Rice under contract for just the 2026 season. They could let him play out his rookie deal and then part ways in free agency, especially since their wide receiver room is thin.
Rice, 26, had 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns during the 2025 season. There's no question he's capable of being a game-changing weapon at times.
While we can't blame Chiefs fans for wanting Rice out of the picture, there's no indication at this time that he'll be released.
