Gannon Buhr and Ohn Scoggins repeated as champions at the 2026 Santa Cruz Masters Cup professional tournament, a three-day event at DeLaveaga Disc Golf Course that concluded Sunday.
Buhr of Urbandale, Iowa, won the Mixed Pro Open secured his third Master Cup crown since 2022 with a 21-under-par 141 total
Emmanuel Torres (142) of Watsonville took second, and Andrew Marwede (143) of Alpena, Michigan, was third. Noah Meintsma (145) of Minneapolis and Matthew Orum of Satsuma, Alabama, rounded out the top five.
Scoggins of Los Angeles won the Women's Pro Open title for a fourth straight year with a 21-under 165 total.
Chandler Reigh (171) of Kingman, Arizona, took second, and Violet Main (174) of San Luis Obispo was third. Maria Oliva (175) of Waverly, Tennessee, and Rebecca Don (176) of Westport, Ontario, Canada, rounded out the top five.
Surfing
NSSA West Coast Championships: Santa Cruz's Riviera Hunter and Cruz Vavuris-Verduzco won titles at the NSSA West Coast Championships, a four-day event that concluded Sunday in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas.
Hunter was a finalist in four divisions. She took first in the Explorer Girls (14&U) with a two-wave total score of 10.50 total, second in the Open Womens (all ages) with a 9.47 total, and third in the Open Girls (U16) with a 6.94 total, and third in the Explorer Womens (all ages) with a 9.00 total.
Vavuris-Verduzco took first in the Explorer Menehuene (12&U) division with a 13.07 total, and second in the Open Mini Groms (U12) with a 11.90 total.
College softball
CSUMB's season ends: California State University Monterey Bay outfielder Abreanna Alba saw her sensational junior season come to a close Friday, when the Otters 1-2 at the NCAA Division II West Regional in San Marcos.
Alba, a Watsonville High and Cabrillo College alumna, was named to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first team and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II All-West Region First Team.
Alba bated .379 (69 for 182) with 29 extra-base hits. She finished with 15 home runs, 60 RBI, 55 runs, and more walks (23) than strikeouts (21). She sported a robust .460 on-base percentage and helped the Otters (33-24) take fifth out of nine teams in the CCAA.
CSUEB's season ends: Infielder Rylee Gomez saw her stellar junior season come to end Saturday, when No. 16 Cal State East Bay lost 3-2 to Biola in the NCAA D-II West Regional championship round at Pioneer Field in Hayward.
Gomez, a Watsonville High and West Valley College alumna, batted a team leading .379 (77 for 203) for the Pioneers (43-17 overall), the CCAA Tournament champion.
She was an All-CCAA second-team selection along with Aptos' Nevaeh Martinez, a sophomore at Cal State Monterey Bay.
Gomez also earned All-Tournament Team honors after batting .615 (8-for-13) with two home runs and four RBI. She finished the year with 27 extra-bases hit, 34 RBI, 33 runs scored, and more walks (16) than strikeouts (13).
