'Cheating' Accusations Fly After Wild High School Baseball State Championship Ending
A wild finish to a high school baseball state championship game in Florida has led some to make big "cheating" accusations.
South Walton topped North Broward Prep in wild fashion in the Florida 3A State Championship Game on Friday night. South Walton and North Broward were tied, 5-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning. South Walton had the bases loaded with one out.
What came next was absolute chaos. South Walton pulled off an epic squeeze play to win the game.
"You don't see this every day. 👀 South Walton (FL) pulls off the SUICIDE SQUEEZE to win the Florida 3A State Baseball Championship in walk-off fashion over North Broward Prep. ⚾🔥," MaxPreps shared.
Fans couldn't believe it. However, did South Walton pull off the play correctly? Did the batter end up touching first base?
Should you win a state championship game on a squeeze play?
Fans are debating what's right and what's wrong about this
"No way they all touched the next base. The guy who bunted beelined to right field," one wrote.
"Did the bunter touch first base? Looks like he took off towards center field," one shared.
"A bunch of cheaters. It would have been better if they won fair and square," one fan added.
"Cheating play!" one added.
"There must be some punishment for throwing his helmet like that at the opposing players. That could have really hurt someone. And the fact this is normal makes today's game hard to watch. You feel like you're watching mental midgets. Teach boys to act like MEN, not imbeciles! ⚾️," one shared.
The finish was a controversial one, to say the least, but clearly, South Walton is keeping its championship. That's certainly one way to end a big state championship game.
