Softball playoffs roundup: Palos Verdes defeats ML King in Division 1 first-round game

Daniella Boccanfuso pitched a complete game, allowed two unearned runs and struck out nine in Palos Verdes' 3-2 win against ML King on Friday in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Ellie Correa drove in two runs for PV.

The Sea Kings will host La Mirada on Saturday at noon.

Division 3

North Torrance 5, Beaumont 0: Kloie Iboy struck out five in the win and Brooklyn Ghilardi and Corina Alvillar had two hits apiece for North.

The Saxons will host Murrieta Valley on Saturday in the second round.

Also, Mira Costa will host La Quinta/La Quinta in Division 4, Chadwick visits Cathedral City in Division 7 and Hawthorne MSA visits Arroyo Valley for a 1 p.m. game.

Edison 8, El Segundo 5: Taryn Walker hit a home run and drove in two runs and Marilyn McCaverty had two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles.

Murrieta Valley 9, Redondo Union 5: Camryn Sanchez, Julia Tsao and Lauren Bizub had three hits apiece for the Sea Hawks.
