Minnesota Lynx Rookie Olivia Miles Joins Elite WNBA Group

Many believed the Minnesota Lynx got a steal when they selected former LSU point guard Olivia Miles with the No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA draft back in April.

Miles, the Big 12 Player of the Year, three-time All-American, and first-team All-Big 12 selection, is only three games into her WNBA career, and she's already catching attention by joining some elite players.

Miles tallied 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, and a block in Minnesota's 90-86 win over the Dallas Wings on Thursday, and in doing so, she became just the third player in WNBA history to accomplish one historic feat.

"OLIVIA MILES JOINS ELITE COMPANY 🔥 She’s the third player in WNBA history with 10 points & 5 assists in each of her first 3 career games, joining Candace Parker and Sue Bird 😤," ESPN Insights posted on X.

Among rookies, Miles ranks first in assists (7.0 per game) and blocks (1.0 per game), second in scoring (16.3 points per game), sixth in rebounds (3.7 per game), and 10th in steals per game (0.7).

She also leads the Lynx in scoring and assists.

If Miles' career plays out like either Parker's or Bird's, the Lynx will be thrilled with their selection

Parker was a seven-time All-Star, seven-time first-team All-WNBA selection, three-time WNBA champion, a two-time WNBA MVP, a WNBA Finals MVP, a Defensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. She averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, .5 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game across 16 seasons.

Bird was a four-time WNBA champion, a 13-time All-Star, five-time first-team All-WNBA selection, and she led the league in assists three times. She averaged 11.7 points, 5.6 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game across 19 seasons.
