Purdue Basketball Predicted to Receive Commitment From Nation's No. 1 Center
The Purdue Boilermakers continue to build for the future by targeting some of the top players in the 2027 recruiting class. So far, Matt Painter and his staff have yet to land a commitment in the cycle, but that may soon change.
One player who has caught the Boilermakers' interest is Isaiah Hill out of Indianapolis, Indiana. At 7-foot-0 and 205 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 1 center and the No. 12 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.
He was limited to just six games during his junior season at Pike High School. However, as a sophomore, he averaged 10.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 21 games. The big man also shot 67% from the field and 38% from beyond the three-point line.
He could end up being Purdue's first addition in the 2027 cycle. On Wednesday, On3's senior national recruiting analyst, Jamie Shaw, logged an expert prediction for Hill to commit to the Boilermakers with a 90 confidence level.
Hill has previously spoken highly of Purdue, telling Shaw, "I have a good relationship with them. They play really well through their big men, and they win a lot of games... My relationship with Coach Painter is good."
It's one of the few programs he's gotten a closer look at, taking an unofficial visit with the Boilermakers on May 10, 2025. However, he's also taken unofficial visits with the Illinois Fighting Illini (Sept. 27, 2025) and Louisville Cardinals (Oct. 25, 2025).
With Hill's recruitment beginning to heat up, the Boilermakers will strive to stay out ahead. Also holding offers from the Indiana Hoosiers, Syracuse Orange, Oregon Ducks and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Purdue is facing a handful of competition.
