Chiefs-Bills Slated for Holiday Night Showdown: Report

One of the biggest rivalries in the NFL over the last five-plus seasons has been between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills, led by star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again this upcoming season, and on Wednesday night, the exact date and time for the showdown was revealed ahead of the full 2026-27 NFL schedule release on Thursday night.

While fans are usually accustomed to seeing the Bills and Chiefs face off in the 4:25 p.m. EST Sunday window, this year's matchup will take place on NBC on Thanksgiving night in Buffalo.

The other matchups joining Chiefs-Bills on the three-game Thanksgiving slate will feature the Chicago Bears traveling to Detroit to take on the Lions in the early afternoon window, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles facing the Dallas Cowboys in the middle game at around 4:30 p.m. EST.

Fortunately for football fans, those games won't be played until Week 12, which should give Patrick Mahomes more than enough time to fully recover after tearing his ACL at the end of the 2025-26 season.

At the moment, Mahomes appears to be on track to start the season, which would mark a remarkable recovery. That remains his goal as Kansas City looks to rebound from a 6-11 campaign, while the Bills are still trying to get over their postseason hump.

Allen and Mahomes' head-to-head history has been fascinating. In the regular season, Allen and the Bills have largely controlled the matchup, holding a 5-1 record against Kansas City.

However, the story completely changes in the playoffs, where Mahomes remains undefeated against Allen with a 4-0 record.
