"The Right Thing To Do": Idaho Ski Area Launches Year-Round Childcare

Brundage Mountain is stepping up to help families in Valley and Adams County, Idaho. The ski area announced on Monday, May 11, that they'd be opening a new daycare facility in their recently opened Mountain Adventure Center.

The new facility is an Idaho state-certified daycare and one of the only childcare programs in the area that accepts the Idaho Child Care Program's assistance. Childcare in the McCall area, where Brundage is located, has become increasingly limited, and wait lists for subsidized programs are long, according to the ski resort.

As of April 15, Brundage believes it's the first ski resort in Idaho approved to participate in the Idaho Child Care Assistance program.

"We know how hard it can be for local families to find quality childcare, especially care that fits real-world schedules," said Zach Miller, MTN Sports School Director at Brundage Mountain Resort in a press release, "We already had this beautiful space, an experienced team and people who genuinely love working with kids, so opening it up to the community felt like the right thing to do. Strong communities need services like this if we want families to be able to live, work and thrive here long term."

Brundage Daycare is now open year-round from Monday to Friday for children ages 6 months to 6 years old from 8 am to 5 pm. Located on Brundage's mountain base, the daycare provides a bright, custom-designed space for kids that also has easy access to the lawn outside and more outdoor play space. All daycare providers are CPR and Pediatric First Aid certified.

During the winter season, Brundage will still operate their existing guest daycare services from Wednesday to Sunday for children 18 months to 6 years old. There are half-day and full-day options for winter daycare for families visiting the mountain.
