NCS swim championships: Castro Valley sprinter sets two meet records

Castro Valley's Khanh Seaton was the star among stars on Saturday at the North Coast Section swimming championships in Novato.

The University of Michigan commit set two meet records while taking home gold medals in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle sprints.

On a day that De La Salle captured the boys team championship and Campolindo claimed the girls team crown, Seaton left the most indelible marks at College of Marin's Miwok Aquatic Facility.

The junior covered the 50 free in 22.02 seconds, shattering the NCS meet record of 22.49 that Carondelet's Madelyn Murphy set in 2016.

Campolindo's Stella Canoles took second in 22.83.

Seaton followed the blistering swim in the 50 free with another in the 100 free. She touched the wall in 48.58, eclipsing the meet record of 48.62 that Murphy also set in 2016.

The Castro Valley star was among four swimmers to win two individual races.

San Ramon Valley's Daniela Linares Danzos finished first in the 100 butterfly in 53.61 and then in the 100 backstroke came within .08 seconds of matching the NCS meet record of 52.86 that Carondelet's Natalie Coughlin set in 1999. Coughlin is a three-time Olympic gold medalist.

Linares Danzos finished first in 52.94, winning by more than a second.

Amador Valley's Kealan Tupper took first in the boys 200 free in 1:36.69, then edged Monte Vista's Jeremy Ting to capture the 500 free in 4:23.40. Ting touched the wall in 4:23.87.

Cade Vieler, another Amador Valley standout, touched the wall first in the 100 free in 44.06 and 100 back in 47.23.

De La Salle set a meet record in the boys 200 medley relay in 1:30.23. The previous record of 1:30.26 was set by Northgate in 2015.

Other boys individual winners included Dougherty Valley's Tim Wu in the 200 IM (1:45.79), Campolindo's Ellis Culleton in the 50 free (20.47), Campolindo's Gavin Cameto in the 100 butterfly (47.92) and Foothill's Ethan Wang in the 100 breaststroke (54.91) and Liberty's Ryler Farley in 1-meter diving (391.90).

De La Salle won the boys 200 free relay (1:22.72) and Amador Valley captured the boys 400 free (3:01.94).
