Padres minors: Kash Mayfield rebounds for TinCaps, two more homers for Jase Bowen

Kash Mayfield got back on track Friday.

Not that he was off course for long.

The 21-year-old left-hander rebounded from two sup-par starts to spin five shutout innings in high Single-A Fort Wayne's 1-0 win over visiting Beloit.

Mayfield (2-1) struck out three and allowed one hit and one walk in lowering his ERA to 1.82 through his first six starts.

Mayfield did not allow hit in his first two starts (7 IP) and not allow a run until his fourth start of the year. He wound up allowed three runs in four innings on May 24 and then two runs in 3⅔ innings on May 1. Mayfield walked five batters in the latter start, but got back on track in Friday's win, his second five-inning start of the season.

Right-hander Clark Candiotti (5.17 ERA) followed Mayfield with four strikeouts over two shutout innings.

Right-hander Tucker Musgrove (5.40 ERA) earned his first save despite walking two and allowing two hits in a scoreless ninth. Musgrove struck out two.
