Girls lacrosse roundup: Huntington Beach, Corona del Mar reach CIF-SS semifinals
Emily Mehr scored the game-winning goal in overtime for Huntington Beach in an 8-7 win over Sunset League foe Edison in the CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinals Thursday at Huntington Beach High.
Huntington Beach (13-8) has two wins by one goal this season, both of which came against Edison.
Ella Jones had four goals for the Oilers, won seven draws and had a caused turnover. Allison Losoya, Leah Palowitz and Tatum Viezbicke also had goals for Huntington Beach.
Madison Tran led Edison (11-7) in scoring.
Huntington Beach will play at Corona del Mar in the semifinals Saturday. The Oilers beat Corona del Mar 9-4 in Sunset League play on April 16.
Huntington Beach is in the semifinals for the first time since 2023 when it won the Division 3 championship.

In Division 2:
Corona del Mar 11, Murrieta Mesa 10: Miley Perisi had five points for Corona del Mar in a close win over Murrieta Mesa at home.
Perisi had three goals with two assists and shot 75 percent from the field. MK Angeloff had three goals and Bijou Luong added two. Kayla Torgelson had a goal with two assists and Gabi Bales had a goal with an assist.
Sofia Petek had 11 saves for Corona del Mar (14-4).
Corona del Mar has reached the semifinals for the first time since 2022.
Roosevelt 8, Woodbridge 7: Mady Nolan's historic career at Woodbridge came to an end in a loss at home to Roosevelt of Eastvale.
Nolan had three goals and three assists for Woodbridge (20-2), who had a 14-game winning streak entering Thursday. She leads California in points this season with 172 (112 goals, 60 assists) and draw controls (110). Nolan had a school-record 441 career goals and is a three-time US Lacrosse All-American.
Ellie Cromar and Elena Myung also scored for the Warriors. Woodbridge was the No. 2 seed entering the playoffs and beat Chaminade in the second round after having a bye in the first.
In Division 3:
Great Oak 9, El Toro 5: El Toro couldn't overcome an early deficit in a road loss to Great Oak.
Alani Pollard had three goals for El Toro (13-9) and Vivienne Su added two. The Chargers were the third place team in the South Coast League this season and beat Millikan and Paloma Valley in the first two rounds.
Great Oak will play at Northwood on Saturday.
