Boys lacrosse roundup: Los Alamitos, Dana Hills, El Dorado reach CIF-SS semifinals
Los Alamitos’ boys lacrosse team had a big offensive game but it was its defense that delivered late in a 13-12 win over Huntington Beach in the CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinals Wednesday at Huntington Beach High.
Huntington Beach had the ball in the final minute of the game but the Los Alamitos defense held the Oilers off long enough to win.
Rob Hansen had six goals for Los Alamitos (15-4) and Tommy Argenzio scored two goals including the go-ahead goal. Colin Shriver also had two goals and midfielders Sebastian Marr and Jack Kreutzer each added one.
Huntington Beach (12-8) beat Los Alamitos in Sunset League play during the regular season.
The Oilers beat Linfield Christian and Crespi in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Los Alamitos has reached the semifinals for the first time in school history. The Griffins are the No. 1 seed in Division 2 and will play at Mira Costa on Saturday.

In Division 2:
St. Francis 10, Servite 4: Servite's season came to an end with a loss at home to St. Francis.
Alec Ursua, Brandon Rizo, Luke Helsper and Jaden Rasic each scored for Servite (15-4).
Servite was the fourth-place team in the Trinity League this season and beat Crean Lutheran and Aliso Niguel in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
In Division 3:
Dana Hills 11, University 8: Dana Hills (19-3) beat University to reach the CIF-SS semifinals for the first time.
Luke Lambert had three goals for Dana Hills, won eight of his 10 faceoff attempts and had 10 ground balls. Charles Tzagournis had two goals with a team-high 11 ground balls. Kyle Weaver added three goals and Jordan Stark had nine saves.
Graham Pretty had six goals for University (16-7) and goalie Coby Schulman had 18 saves.
The Trojans beat Hart and No. 2 seed Chaparral in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Dana Hills will host King of Riverside on Saturday.
The Dolphins have won 14 consecutive games.
El Dorado 12, Culver City 9: El Dorado beat Culver City at home to reach the semifinals for the first time.
Kyle Reynolds led El Dorado (14-7) with four goals and John Reed added three goals and an assist. Connor Stone and Seth Jevec each had two goals for the Golden Hawks, who have won five consecutive games.
El Dorado will host top-seeded Oaks Christian on Saturday in the semifinals.
