Foothill boys tennis advances to D4 final; BCHS, Frontier matches Wednesday
The Foothill High boys tennis team went on the road Tuesday to Atascadero and claimed a 6-3 victory over the Greyhounds and a berth in next Tuesday's CIF Central Section Division 4 championship match.
Foothill is the third seed in the tournament bracket. The Trojans will play the winner of Tuesday's other semifinal between No. 1 Matilda Torres and No. 4 Dinuba in the final. If Torres won, it will host the title match as the highest seed remaining.
Prior to facing Atascadero, Foothill blanked Tehachapi in an April 28 first-round home match 9-0 and then topped Ridgeview 6-3 in an April 30 home quarterfinal.
CIF boys tennis schedule changes: Two local boys teams scheduled to play CIF Central Section playoff matches Tuesday - Division 1's Bakersfield Christian and Division 2's Frontier - pushed their home semifinal matches back a day to today. BCHS, the second seed, moved its match against No. 3 Clovis-Buchanan to 3 p.m. today. Frontier, the top seed in D-2, was expected to host No. 4 Paso Robles, but weather concerns forced the schedule shift. The Titans host the Bearcats at 3:30 p.m. today.
